Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

This policy explains how Antikythera Technologies (Pty) Ltd (registration 2016/170969/07, South Africa; "Antikythera", "we", "us") handles personal information on this website and in our software products, including Antikythera Scribe. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where it applies, the GDPR.

2. Information We Collect on This Website

  • Contact form: your name, email address, the service you ask about, and your message.
  • Downloads and early-access lists: the email address you give us to receive a download link or to join an early-access list (for example Antikythera Scribe), and the date you confirmed it.
  • Server logs: our hosting providers keep standard web server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) for security and operation.

This website uses no advertising or analytics trackers.

3. How We Use It

  • To answer your enquiry and provide the services you ask for.
  • To send the download link or early-access updates you asked for. Every such email lets you unsubscribe.
  • To keep our website and systems secure.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

4. Antikythera Scribe

Antikythera Scribe is a Windows application that records and transcribes meetings on your own laptop.

  • Stays on your laptop: recordings, transcripts, summaries, participant names, and settings are stored in your local user folder. We do not receive them, and the app sends no telemetry.
  • Local processing: with the default local speech model, audio never leaves your laptop.
  • Cloud providers you choose: if you choose a cloud speech or text provider in Settings (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Z.AI, or OpenAI Codex with your ChatGPT account), Scribe sends that provider the audio (cloud speech) or the transcript text and the known participant names (cloud text) under your own account with that provider. That provider's terms and privacy policy then apply.
  • Webhook and export: if you turn on the webhook or Markdown export, Scribe sends the meeting record to the address or folder you set.
  • Scribe meeting bot: if you invite the Scribe bot to an online meeting, the bot joins from a server we operate, records the meeting audio and the participants' names shown in the meeting, and delivers them to your Scribe app. These recordings stay on that server until they are deleted; ask us at any time and we delete them.
  • Credentials: API keys and sign-in tokens are kept in Windows Credential Manager on your laptop, never on our servers.

5. Google User Data (Google Calendar)

Scribe can connect to your Google Calendar. This is optional and off until you choose Connect Google Calendar in Scribe's Settings.

  • Access requested: read-only access to your calendar events (Google scope calendar.events.readonly) and your Google account email address (to show which account is connected).
  • What Scribe reads: only the events around the time of a recording you made: the event title, start and end time, organizer, attendee names and email addresses, and the meeting link.
  • How Scribe uses it: only to name that meeting in your Scribe library and to list who was invited, so that transcripts and summaries use the right names. When you use a cloud text or speech provider you chose, the invitee names are included in the request to that provider, only so that it spells the names correctly.
  • Where it is stored: in the meeting record on your laptop. The sign-in token is kept in Windows Credential Manager. Google user data is never sent to Antikythera's servers.
  • What we never do: we do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, use it to train AI models, or let any person read it.
  • Removing access: choose Disconnect in Scribe's Settings, or remove "Scribe" at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting a meeting in Scribe deletes its calendar details.

Antikythera Scribe's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Sharing

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our services (for example web hosting and email delivery), under their confidentiality and security obligations, or when the law requires it.

7. Security and Retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires.

8. Your Rights

You may ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, object to its processing, or unsubscribe from our emails. Email wian@antikythera.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
